A Stephenville Crossing man has been sentenced to four years for his role in an armed robbery of a Dominion grocery store, leading to him being shot by his fellow burglars.

Thomas Eldred Hickey and two others robbed the Stephenville Dominion supermarket and tied up an employee last December.

One of the two men shot Hickey in nearby Black Duck Siding, in what police have described as a staged shooting to convince people they weren't involved in the robbery.

All three men involved in the robbery have pleaded guilty.

Hickey will be serving four years in prison for the armed robbery, and one year for forcible confinement to be served concurrently.
